U.S. Reaches Non-Prosecution Deal with Troubled Western Pacific Casino

A Northern Mariana Islands casino will forfeit approximately $3 million to the U.S. Justice Department under the terms of a deal reached Thursday that will spare the gambling operation criminal charges. In a non-prosecution agreement, American officials said that Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino would pay the forfeiture and improve its anti-money laundering (AML) program after U.S. agents, including an undercover IRS criminal investigator, discovered that the company had failed to report 3,460 currency transactions totaling $138 million.
