U.K.’s Cameron Proposes More Power for Charities Regulator

British officials are asking lawmakers to strengthen an agency's oversight of charities in England and Wales in response to terrorism financiers, including bolstering governmental authority to dismiss trustees. Under a draft bill published Wednesday, the British Parliament could make dozens of changes to the 2011 Charities Act that would grant the Charity Commission the power to remove a trustee when the person refuses to step down and disqualify such individuals from holding the role for up to 15 years.
