U.A.E. Has ‘Urgent Need’ for National AML Plan, Better Customer Due Diligence, Says FATF

The United Arab Emirates should immediately begin work on a national plan to better protect its economy from money launderers and terrorist financiers, an intergovernmental watchdog said Friday. The U.A.E. enforces anti-money laundering (AML) and counter terrorism financing (CFT) regulations in different ways throughout its seven states and duty-free zones, the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) said in a report. As a result, a national plan to coordinate regulatory enforcement is "urgently required," the organization said.
