The U.K. and U.S. in Discussions to Share Trade Data, Anti-Fraud System

The United Kingdom may turn over trade data to U.S. officials in exchange for access to a U.S. anti-fraud system in an effort to detect trade-based money laundering, according to the British customs service. Officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) met earlier this month with their counterparts from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to discuss a one-year pilot program to detect discrepancies in trade between the two countries, according to HMRC spokeswoman Beryl St. James.
