Senate Follows House in Passing Measure Against Companies That Aid Iran

The Senate Banking Committee Thursday unanimously approved legislation that would enable the White House to impose fresh sanctions against companies that import refined petroleum to Iran. The Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act of 2009, introduced by Chairman Christopher Dodd (D-CT), would hold companies responsible for subsidiaries they use to avoid Iran sanctions.
