The Securities and Exchange Commission has suspended its public list of companies disclosing business ties to rogue nations after receiving complaints about the list being misleading.
In a letter sent to SEC Chairman Christopher Cox on Thursday, Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, said the list unfairly includes companies that have divested, or have negligible business dealings, in these countries.
The web tool contains links for countries, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria, designated as terror sponsoring states. Clicking on any of the links reveals a list of companies whose most recent SEC filings disclose business activities in the country.
