A real estate broker pleaded guilty Thursday to federal charges of conspiring to violate U.S. sanctions and launder money by handling transactions linked to luxury properties in an around Miami owned by blacklisted Russian oligarchs Viktor Perevalov and Valeri Abramov.
From 2018 to 2023, the broker, 74-year-old Roman Sinyavsky, owner of Family International Realty LLC, sold, leased, transferred title for several luxury condominiums that Perevalov and Abramov owned in Miami Beach and elsewhere, according to prosecutors, and collected, shared and used proceeds from those transactions to maintain the properties on their behalf.
The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control blacklisted Perevalov and Abramov in 2018 for owning and running VAD, AO, the company that built Tavrida Highway in Crimea after Russia illegally occupied the Ukrainian territory in 2014. OFAC blacklisted Perevalov again in December 2024 for his ties to Russia’s construction sector.
Federal prosecutors secured the forfeiture of two of the condominiums on Jan. 7.
Sinyavksy faces a maximum of five years in prison.
