IRS Beefs Up International Tax Enforcement Effort with Reorganization, Increased Staffing

An IRS personnel reshuffle designed to combat offshore tax evasion coincides with an influx of over 800 new employees and will facilitate enforcement of a controversial tax law beginning in 2013, say analysts. The changes create a new unit, the Large Business and International Division (LBID), IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman, said Wednesday, in a statement. It replaces the agency's Large and Mid-Size Business Division (LMSB) beginning October 1.
