In ‘Treasure Trove’ of Bin Laden Data, a Phone Number Linked to a SAR

U.S. officials have launched a criminal investigation after linking data seized at Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan to a Bank Secrecy Act report, counterterrorism investigators said Monday. Within days of the May 2011 raid that killed the al-Qaida leader, investigators uploaded seized information onto FBI databases in an effort to maximize "media exploitation," R. Scott Broshears, chief of the FBI's Terrorist Financing Operations Section, said Monday. Equipment taken from bin Laden's home reportedly included several computers, hard drives, hundreds of USB keys, cellular phones and over 6,000 documents.
