House Committee Approves North Korea Sanctions Targeting Correspondent Accounts

The House Committee on Foreign Affairs Friday advanced a measure that would bar foreign banks linked to North Korean weapons proliferation and financial crime from holding U.S. correspondent accounts. Introduced by Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA), the North Korea Sanctions Enforcement Act of 2015 would task the Treasury Secretary with determining whether the Asian nation is a "primary money laundering concern" under the U.S. Patriot Act.
