EU Commission Calls for Uniform Asset Seizure Laws

The European Commission is asking EU leaders to allow the European Council to augment a blacklist of suspected terrorists whose assets must be frozen to include individuals and groups in Europe. The commission, which introduced the latest version of the proposed measure in October, said that terror suspects in Europe were exploiting the differences between member state laws and sanctions lists by moving their assets to jurisdictions that best sheltered them from law enforcement.
