Bybit Triggers €2.3 Million Penalty in the Netherlands

The Dutch central bank disclosed a €2.3 million penalty Wednesday against Bybit, a cryptocurrency exchange in Dubai, for serving customers in the Netherlands from October 2020 to September 2023 without authorization. In a 39-page notice, De Nederlandsche Bank, or DNB, revealed that the United Arab Emirates-based virtual asset service platform incurred the penalty on Oct. 22 after failing to register for anti-money laundering purposes during the three years in question.
