Former U.S. Official Calls for BSA Overhaul at House Hearing

The United States should overhaul its primary anti-money laundering law to allow government agencies and banks to better share data, a former U.S. State Department official told lawmakers Thursday. The Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) is "not working" and should be amended to allow banks to pool and collectively analyze client data and permit government officials to more readily disclose sensitive information to bankers, said David Asher, during a hearing of the House Committee on Financial Services.
