Defense Department Will Aid Treasury in Counter-Terrorism Finance

The U.S. Defense Department expects to formalize a policy that would make it a more active partner in combating terrorist financing with other federal agencies, U.S. officials said Wednesday. The department issued a memorandum on December 2 calling for greater cooperation among federal agencies charged with detecting terror financiers. On Wednesday, the head of the department's transnational threats agency, Edward Frothingham, said a finalized policy would be issued in June.
